nuit x 20 | Oct 2 - Oct 8 2026

It's the 20th anniversary of Nuit Blanche this weekend, proof that art can be made accessible and generate a net positive for this city. It's an event every year that brings everyone outdoors in the fall. Like Halloween but without the sugar. Make sure you check out the guide here. I've given out a bunch of suggestions below in case you can't wait.

1. Inconvenience Store Funeral + Sunset Picnic

Sun, Oct 4 · 5p | Harbour Square Park | Free

The convenience store in the water is closing, and this is the send-off. Dress semi-formal, formal, or wear whatever you want. It'll be silly and weird and might turn into the thing you wished you went to. A sunset picnic rounds out the evening, so bring something to share.

2. Nuit Blanche: Tomorrow's Memories

Sat-Sun, Oct 3-4 · 7p-7a | Various | Free

Art takes over streets, parks, and buildings. And who can forget the annual, "this is art?" commentary. Yes, there are duds, the waits can be long at the start, and it's way too spread out, but if you do it right, it's a night you'll look forward to every year. Here's the full Nuit Blanche guide. Here's the truth. Part of the night is that you won't know what is the best thing to see until you see it.
A few that have potential:
Nathan Phillips Square | Avataq | 30ft foil sculpture
Chelsea Hotel windows |Avataq Gathering | inflated foil sculptures
City Hall Underground Garage | On Flashing Lights | Police Car lights dance party Queen St W + University | UFO | crashed flying-saucer in a Car
Queen St W + Bay St | Miss You: T.Dot Memories | inflatable old city landmarks
North York Centre | The Wishing Boat | Massive origami boat that's interactive
Canoe Landing Park | Making Waves |
Music Garden | Public Pier | The malting silos will be lit all night

And if you want a hub to just enjoy the night, check out Wychwood Barns or Regent Park (Daniels Spectrum) which will both host markets among the art.

Best tip: Go late or really late. Start at 11pm at the least popular ones and make your way to the biggest art at the end. Or start at 5am and spend the last two hours enjoying the art without the crowds.
